Today, I went took a pto day and went to the hanford, one of the plutonium production facility during the WWII to make the atomic bomb. I seen plenty of historic sites and the previous building. While most of the buildings have collapsed, there are still sign and history story remain from the tour guide. For the reminder of the day, I spend the rest of the day relax by the pool of the hotel. It was quite hot so the pool were refreshing. I also went out for biking along the Columbia river bank. Overall, this has been a good relaxing trip to help me de-stress from the day to day work. Although I didn’t spent time learning about new tech related information today, I feel it is still valuable experience to see some of the past lives from people who had to go through extreme hardship. The original resident of the village there were evicted with little compensation and the worker that came in to build the reactors were forced to be put in the location over span of two years without able to go home to see other family member. It really put in perspective all the thing I take for granted over the years (family, job, education, environment). From these story, it make me appreciate more about everything I have and should cherish more in my life. Overall, it is a good experience.
