Notes Entry Air Fryer

Air fryer is meant to be similar to a convection oven that circulate the hot air within the chamber and evenly cook all area of the food without flipping.

One key resources I discovered about air fryer through browsing reddit is this collection that contains the list of air fryer that are out there along with their feature set. Couple interesting one include one which is stainless steel internal which in theory would be more durable but seems to be much larger and expensive compare to the traditional air fryer. The following are some key consideration I thought of went looking at the Air fryer.

  • Size i.e 2,4,6 Qt - Air fryer is already very small for the most part even at 6qt so 6qt size is almost a must if you plan on serving more than 2 people.
  • Cost - usually ranges from 60 - 130, some go to 200+ but mostly outlier
  • Features - normally you only need temperature control with preferably knob for more intuitive control
  • Replacement part price and availability - Usually the internal tray or bottom surface is made of non stick and will need to be replaced after 3-4 year. Replacement part availability should be consider rather than always throw out a 80$+ device every 3+ years.

Couple Candidates Instant vortex plus 6 qt (preferred)

  • 6 qt
  • 120$ (at the time of writing)
  • Knob with some simple preset
  • Cheap tray replacement 13~15$ with many options. example

COSORI CAF-DC601-KUS

  • 6 qt
  • 87$
  • Knob with simple preset
  • Expensive tray replacement 30+$ with little options. example

Overall I feel the instant line is more widely used as many folks are already familiar with the instant pot so there are more part widely available. Choosing the vortex is going to be cheaper after two replacement tray. Also there are other recommendation from America’s test kitchen reviewing this model as well.
